You can use the Black Night Telnet Tool to connect to America Online via the Internet.

Why use the Black Night Telnet Tool ?
You can access America Online via the Internet. This has always been available, and America Online have provided a Telnet Tool for you to use.
For various reasons, you may prefer to use the Black Night Telnet Tool. I found that my connections were more reliable, faster and my sytem was more stable. However, this is my own personal experience and your's may be different. Also, this does not mean there is anything wrong with the America Online solution, nor does it mean that their Telnet Tool has bugs (I have not tested their tool and hence cannot comment).
America Online using the Black Night Telnet Tool
First, setup America Online for connection via the Internet using its own Telnet Tool. Then, find your America Online folder, and drop the File "Internet (Black Night)" into the "Online Files" folder.
From the America Online Welcome screen, select your internet 'Locality' and click "Setup".
Next, select "Internet (Black Night)" as your "First Try". You may also want to select it as your "Second Try".
